This is for me.  If anyone else reads it, that's fine.  I'm not making this entry private.  But this isn't supposed to be pretty or well-crafted or profound.  This is just a brief freewrite about why I write and why I must continue writing; I'm keeping it here so I can look back at it when I need to.

Do you like to write sex scenes/love scenes?  Do they make you want to tear your hair out?  Something in-between?  Is there a method to your madness?

Discuss, dear friends!

For those writers who outline or do intensive pre-planning, will you tell me what your process is like?

ETA:  If you're willing to share a sample outline, I'd love to see it.

Answer anonymously if you want.  Answer even if we're not "friends."  Answer even if you just stumbled across this post and have no idea who I am.

(And hell yes, I'm spamming today.) *g*

Borrowed from the beautiful and eloquent [profile] sillysun22 and modified very slightly:

I will write a drabble (100 words exactly) for anyone who the first ten people to comments and asks for one. In return, you must post this in your journal--if you feel so inclined. You may request the character and/or pairing - though I can't promise I will write them in a relationship - for the following fandoms:
  • Bones (I know -- what a surprise! *g*  But feel free to request something besides Brennan and Booth.)
  • Original (No fandom;  just give me a prompt, and I'll see what I can scrounge up.)
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I'm a little chicken about writing in this fandom because I have it up on a pedestal.)

So I've heard folks say that X is a good storyteller but a bad writer -- and vice versa.  Who, in your mind, is both a good storyteller AND a good writer?  Who's a good storyteller but a sucky writer?  Who's a good writer or stylist but a not-so-good storyteller?  Do these distinctions make sense to you?

* For the purpose of this post feel free to mention any person who writes fanfiction, nonfiction, fiction, or poetry.

Quote a bit of my fic at me? Find that one fic of mine that you really like, and find a sentence or a paragraph that presses your prose-buttons in the right way, and comment here with it? Don't care how long or short.

(Why?  Honestly, because a little validation feels good sometimes.  That's it.)

If you're just wondering what fic I've posted lately, you'll find an update for What Would Happen If We Kissed? here.  Last week I posted a couple ficlets, but I was feeling lazy, so I didn't pimp them in any of the comms.  If you want to read them, just click here and scroll down a bit.

So you tagged me for this meme a while ago.

My last post of random thoughts on writing spurred some interesting conversation and yes, some more random thoughts. *g*

I have strong opinions on reading and writing because I don't think I could live without either.  I don't apologize for my opinions, but it's worth noting that's all they are--my opinions.  They're worth no more or less than anyone else's.

If you've recently read an enjoyable novel, would you mind commenting with the title?  I need something to read.  I don't read horror, but every other genre is fair game.  The only other restriction is that the novel not be written in first person point of view.  There's nothing wrong with first person POV; I just don't want to read it right now.

And yes, I know tastes differ.  I won't blame you if I don't like the book. :)

I found the post below  via [community profile] metafandom , and I just have to link to it because I feel like I could have written it myself.   If you're a writer, please go read it.

Writing doesn't always feel good when I do it, but it is always, always worth the effort.

Just a few thoughts. - Just because I write a lot, and do it every day doesn't mean I like it all the time...

Ok, so I know there are a bunch of writers on my f-list.  I also know I can't be the only one with throwaway snippets or sentences that either never made it into a story or maybe just got cut from one and consequently are just sitting in limbo on a hard drive somewhere.   So if you have some, come on in and post them as a comments.  It might be fun.  If you're feeling shy, post anonymously.

I'll start.  Below the cut is a silly little snippet of dialog that's been sitting in my Google Docs folder since January.  Feel free to point and snicker; it's pretty bad.  *g*

Since we're on a journal site, I suspect many people may already know this, but I think it's worth repeating anyway:  writing is good for your health.  Check out these links for mentions of how writing impacts physical and psychological well-being:

Study 2

So don't worry that you're being self-pitying or dramatic.  Venting is good for the body and the mind.  Turn your frustrations and your joys into words; you'll be healthier for it.
