He's a fool. That's gotta be it. Why else is he standing in the doorway watching Russ Brennan, minus handcuffs, hug his stepdaughter? Cullen would have his ass in a sling if he found out about this little detour to the hospital. Make that his ass, his balls, and his badge--all of which he'd really like to keep, thank you very much.
Or maybe it's that no matter how hard he tries to forget, he remembers the thousand separate moments he didn't have with his son. He's old enough to realize he'll never get them back, but maybe this man and this girl can have one moment. It's a gamble--that's against the rules, Seeley--but what's one more broken rule when the house is on fire?
Whoa. She just kissed him. "Thank you, Booth."
His face is tingling so much he almost can't feel it, and wow that doesn't make any sense. He. Can't. Move. Getagripgetagripgetagrip...
Maybe one of these days she'll touch him and it won't have anything to do with gratitude, grief, or her crazy family.
Fuck; he really is a fool.
Author's Note: The Knight on the Grid is one of my favorite Bones episodes--and not because of the kiss. What are your faves?

Date: 2008-02-10 05:26 pm (UTC)I suck at remembering names of episodes, but thanks to Wikipedia, I was able to look them up. I liked (to name a few) Santa in the Slush, The Knight on the Grid, Mummy in the Maze, The Woman in the Sand and many others.

Oh, I love that. Hope is a terrible thing.
I am terrible at episode titles (only in the Buffyverse can I quote titles), but I like the dead Santa one. And the other Christmas one. And the one in New Orleans. And, well, you get the idea. **g**

Date: 2008-02-10 06:37 pm (UTC)Coincidentally, The Knight on the Grid is one of my favorites as well, following only behind Aliens in a Spaceship and Two Bodies in the Lab. But I also love The Woman in the Sand and The Killer in the Concrete ( I love this one because Bones saves him for once)...

Date: 2008-02-10 06:43 pm (UTC)Season 2 Tied Judas on a Pole for Duchovny's direction and how he brought the best out of David and The Man in the Mansion which has a poor plot but was a good ensemble piece for group dynamics. Actually, I liked most of Season 2 in retrospect apart from the Sully arc which, for me, just didn't work.
Season 3 Very tricky but the one I enjoyed the most was Mummy in the Maze although all the rest shown so far have had great bits in them especially the Gormogon ones.
I haven't decided what Booth's facial expression meant in the hospital kiss scene; maybe 'What do I do now?'; 'She's crossed the line.'; 'This could be the end of a beautiful friendship'; or 'Don't react, she'll misinterpret it - or I have not understood what she's doing'; or 'I don't know what that means.'
Your reading of it is very good.

As for episodes, I've enjoyed pretty much all of them equally, but Woman in the Sand really stands out. I could watch Tony and Roxie every day. *blissful sigh*

Date: 2008-02-10 08:05 pm (UTC)I love his response - very complex, actually - to her kiss. What that kiss meant to HIM.... What that kiss meant to HER...Wow!
Knight on the Grid is probably my favorite episode. I love how it's all about HER --- how HE thinks she's "not a girl - you know, emotional", but that the entire episode is about how she IS a girl: emotional, giving, generous, caring about her family, protective about Russ and warm toward Amy (Is that her name - her "niece-to-be), spontaneous... Oh, Brennan, how you have grown since Season 1, and how much I love you! She's not lost anything - she's still intelligent, still fiercely proud, still rational, still an empiricist --- but so much more complex and so much more lovable.
I love the way they exit the totaled cab, then immediately fight, then, stop fighting because she's been injured.
This episode had it all for me: Brennan's growth, Booth's caring, action, action, action, humor. [sigh.]
My other favorites: The Woman in the Sand, Mummy in the Maze, Santa in the Slush, Woman in Limbo, Two Bodies in the Lab.....

Date: 2008-02-10 09:16 pm (UTC)Scully: I saw your face Mulder. There was a definite moment of panic.
Mulder: You've never seen me panic. When I panic, I make this face.
[remains impassive] The X-Files movie.
The Knight on the Grid is so far now my fav episode from season 3 (points at her icon *g*), love it even more than the Christmas one. I would dare to say that my four fav episodes are The woman in limbo (wow, Brennan saying 'It's wrong, Angela' still makes me shiver), The girl with the curl (that ending... you don't see endings like that very often), Judas on a Pole (because of everything of the ep) and The Knight on the Grid (stupid me, I cry when daddy!Brennan and Russ hug at the end, besides the BB moments that I love).
Was this a comment of just spam? I still don't know. ;)

My favorites? Ummm… It’s hard to choose but… Two Bodies in the Lab, Aliens in a Spaceship (I’m totally in love that my icon’s scene) and Knight on the Grid.
But I like so much The Woman in the Sand, Judas on a Pole, Santa in the Slush, The Girl With the Curl, The Man in the Fallout Shelter...

Date: 2008-02-10 09:29 pm (UTC)My favorite episode, though, is where they sing "Keep on Trying" by Poco at the end, in the diner. My favorite Bones and Booth moment, ever.

Date: 2008-02-12 02:37 am (UTC)That had a really provocative, steamy hot kind of aftertaste. Nice. :)
And loved Knight too, and not for the kiss either. I thought the tempo was gripping, and the characters engaging - especially Sweets and his Sith Lords comment. I just thought that was soo delightfully squinty. :)

Date: 2008-02-13 01:19 am (UTC)The Woman in the Sand, I loved because of the undercover story. But I love every episode! They all make me laugh and I find interesting.
Oh and on an unrelated to Bones note: you're listening to the Buffy soundtrack. You win at life. Ever since I saw that episode, I can't get the songs out of my head. I'm constantly humming them or singing them. :D

My favourite eps are The Man in the Morgue, Aliens in a Spaceship and the Knight on the Grid! Well, probably a few more too, but those are the very top.

Bones episodes.. mine as always been 2x08.. but I'm hoping that somewhere in S3 or S4, there will be an episode that will change my mind about that :D
