Wednesday Smiles

My smiles:

1. Rachel Maddow handed David Frum his ass on a gilded platter -- and she did it with such grace & civility. :)

2. Two squirrels were chasing each other around and playing tag in my yard earlier this week.

3. Thank you, Campbell Brown, for being a voice of sanity.

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary. Same goes for other people, of course. So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small. Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today. I've been posting these since December. If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere. Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this? Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience. Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday? I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt. :)

I love squirrels. ^_^

- geezbones and I met last Monday. I found her very nice, with a great sense of humour, and loved her accent. We may meet again before she flies back to Argentina. I promised that if we do meet again, we'll have a Bones marathon at my house. :)

- We're having less work this week, it's not like we're not doing anything, but at least we have time to take a breath.

- I made seitan out of plain gluten a few days ago. I experimented a new way adding some spices and it turned out to be yummy.

Re: seitan, I've made and enjoyed some using a variation of the recipe in this thread (http://www.postpunkkitchen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=15959&p=1). What recipe did you use, if you don't mind my asking? Seitan = yummy.

I use a recipe that I found in a Spanish forum I use to visit. When I come home from work this evening I can translate it for you. *goes open wordreference for future ingredient translations* By the way, are you a vegan/vegetarian? Not many non-veg people know about seitan.

Last night 'Aliens in a Spaceship' was being aired here, and I texted Sofi '6 7 16 M1.4', I was sure she was watching it.
