Wednesday Smiles
Jun. 18th, 2008 03:30 pmI mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary. Same goes for other people, of course. So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.
If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small. Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today. I've been posting these since December. If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere. Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.
Why am I doing this? Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience. Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.
Why Wednesday? I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt. :)
Please feel free to comment even if we're not "friends."
P.S.
I don't always get a chance to respond to all your smiles, but I read every single one. They all leave me feeling a little bit lighter than I did before. So thank you! I hope you're all having a good week, my friends, and if you're not, I hope it improves.

My smiles:

+ Bruised, battered, but not yet broken pilots. [sigh]
+ Glorious weather.
+ Half of a really good chocolate muffin. Yum.

Date: 2008-06-18 08:03 pm (UTC)- Weather is warm, finally, and today I went out to work dressed in jeans, and pink-and-yellow t-shirt and shoes. Pink-and-yellow makes me happy.
- I finally found a powder soy milk brand that I'm able to enjoy and I'll never have to put those 'gross!' faces when I drink coffe at work.
- It seems that I'll be able to be in London the day of the XF2 premiere. Fandom squee and holidays with friends. The UK is my second home. ;) More than smiling, this London thing has me all excited.
- London, Emily and David mixed in some pictures I saw today. Smiley and fainty, that was me.
Chocolate muffin... *makes that Homer Simpson thing about food*.
Many Wednesday hugs.

Date: 2008-06-18 08:23 pm (UTC)2. My cousins Rebecca and Sarah will be in town Friday night and Saturday day. Even though I just spent a week with them in the mountains and then stopped at their parents house and spent some time with them afterwards, I'm still looking forward to it. Out of all my cousins on my dad's side, I'm closest to them.

Date: 2008-06-19 11:29 am (UTC)I have been busy trying to lose weight in earnest having suddenly realised my youngest child will soon turn three.. no longer will the 'just had a baby' excuse wash. Anyway, it's my mum's wedding on the 28th so I thought good target for a start. Yesterday I tried on the dress I bought a month ago and I shrunk out of it! Not best pleased about the waste of money but yay to dropping a dress size... and so to shop! (Oh, the hardship)
:D
