Wednesday Smiles

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the squeeing over Bones.  Same goes for other people, of course.   So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

Please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small.  Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today.  I'm going to try to post this every Wednesday for myself, and if you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere.   Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this?  Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience.   Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday?  I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt.  :)

ooh, first for a change?

What makes me smile is the fact that it's BASEBALL SEASON! Spring is officially here and, at least until approximately 3PM this afternoon, my beloved Royals are in first place in the AL Central.

1. Might be going to visit family in California next week.
2. Road trip last weekend with friends. My friends were cool - but a few of the other Toronto FC fans weren't.

Well, today is a reverse minimum day at my school, which means that we don't get in until 10 today, and still get out at our regular time of 2:30.

1. I was super stressed out about an exam and then my Zune randomly played "Beautiful World" by Colin Hay. I felt all the stress leaving me in one giant smile. Sometimes the world works in mysterious ways. ;o)

2. My friends and I played an awesome prank on another friend - and to further add to my glory I got him again but then took pity on him as it was past midnight already. He was a good sport about it though.

~~I had a productive April Fool's day, prank-wise -- I haven't pranked in years, and it felt great. First, I left this graphic (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a267/lateheart/blueeyedfro.jpg) on TJ Thyne's myspace page. And then I did the Seeley/HoCaine graphic from hell on mine.

~~For the first time in months, I'm actually inspired to write. I woke up this morning singing 'Your Sweet and Shiny Eyes' -- an old Bonnie Raitt song -- and it furred up a Booth/Hodgins gen/friendship bunny.

Lots of reasons to smile. Thanks for giving us a place to share them! ♥

last night, one of my oldest friends called out of the blue (after i'd been thinking about him no less), and invited me to come have dinner and go to trivia night at a local bar. that was more than a little smile inducing!

- It's been raining for some days and I've been able to wear my colorful Wellington boots, which I adore.

- I bought the same exact t-shirt for me and for my niece. She looked at them like OMG. It's Penelope Pitstop on it. :)

- This scene from 'How I met your mother'. No matter how many times I watch it, it's hilarious.

And this is totally off-topic, but every time I hear/someone mentions 'Walking after you' by the Foo Fighters, I think of Mulder and Scully. The fact that it was featured in the movie soundtrack may have something to do with it. ;)
