Angela doesn't try as hard to push them together now as she did before. Not because she doesn't still think Brennan should dip her fingers in that tasty FBI pie. But it's begun--without too much help from her.

Brennan stopped saying, "Don't call me Bones," a while ago, and there's no reason why Booth keeps resting his hand at her back.

Angela knows love when she sees it; she sees it whenever she wakes to find Jack looking at her with those eyes she can never quite capture no matter how many shades of cobalt, manganese, thalo, and ultramarine she mixes in her palette.

They're arguing, and God, it really is hot, so she puts down her pencil, folds her arms over her chest, and stops to watch. It should be illegal to stand that close to someone you're not fucking, but there Booth stands, crowding her best friend with that big body of his and eyeing her like he wants to bend her over one of the stainless steel worktables.

She catches Jack's eye and tilts her head in their direction. "Check them out," she mouths, and he just smiles and shakes his head, curls dancing over his forehead.

A/N: I have no idea where this came from, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I think the next update will be for something longer.

I LOVE these lines, especially:

I think it's cute, nice and Angela is always right about them. You definitely captured so well that moment, what B&B desire, what Angela thinks, and her complicity with Jack.

I often think about Brennan stopping saying 'Don't call me Bones', what if Booth asked her why she did? Would she have an answer that didn't compromise/reveal her feelings? Am I understandable at all? ;)

I understand exactly what you meant. Hmmm... That's actually an interesting idea. She could always insist that she just got used to the name and therefore stopped noticing his use of it, but I don't think he'd believe her anyway. ;)

Love how you took his disregard for her personal space and turned it into something so hot. He stands too close all the time on the show, and it's great to see from Angela's POV.

I generally feel that telling Booth/Brennan stories from Angela's POV is a quick 'n dirty go-to for Bones fanfic writers, but I actually really like this. The length lends itself remarkably well to the perspective; any longer and I usually begin to think it's third person omniscient disguising itself in Angela's conversation style. I absolutely adore the paint mixing bit--it reminds me of the many beautiful paint color-related analogies in the novel Girl with a Pearl Earring. It also exemplifies the freshness I love so much about your writing. How many clichéd ways have we read blue eyes described? Your words and your colors are yours and yours only and I love that.

And you also get bonus points for imagery of Booth bending Bones over a stainless steel lab bench because that is hot. Thanks for sharing. :)

I love it. I love Angela trying to capture Hodgins' eyes and never succeeding because they're just that unique and bright. I love her and Hodgins watching the show that is B&B arguing.

I'm particularly amused by "that big body of his" since I always thought of him that way as well, especially in comparison to Emily's incredibly slight and willowy frame...until they had the shot in "Girl in the Gator" with the camera looking DOWN over Stephen Fry's shoulder at what looked like a wee, tiny David Boreanaz and suddenly I realized that, as much as he looks big, a lot of it is in comparison to those he's around and he's actually got a relatively slight bone structure as well (and utterly gorgeous hands) for all that he's tall. But Emily is so fine-boned (except that amazing facial structure and jawline) that Booth LOOKS big next to Brennan.

So...yes. And Angela's voice with "Check them out" and her and Hodgins' excellent lip reading skills...perfect.
