Wednesday Smiles

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the squeeing over Bones.  Same goes for other people, of course.   So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

Please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small.  Could be the excellent latte you had on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today.  I'm going to try to post this every Wednesday for myself, and if you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere.   Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this?  Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience.   Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday?  I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt.  :)

Um, let's see. I saw 27 Dresses on Saturday, and though it will not be winning any kinds of awards, ever, it made me laugh. Plus James Marsden is just a thousand different kinds of adorable. And, and, AND! I got a kickass pair of shoes for under 10 bucks.

Last night (at the longest banquet of all time), my roommate and I were seated with the guy that runs the Peabody Awards. We chatted about Lost, FNL, and so on, and when he left he said, "I just love the way you two talk about television." Ha! Contact and impression made!

Here are a couple things that made me smile:

1. It's 70+ degrees here today. And yes, it's winter!
2. Thinking about the fact that someone recently told me I never fail to disappoint her. I know what she meant--and I am touched by her comment--but I giggle every time I think about what she actually said. Blame it on the fact that I majored in English and have worked as an editor in the past. Precision matters. :)

Well it's Thursday, but since this happened yesterday I figure it counts... my nearly six year old daughter had a valentine's disco at school (I know, early right?!) and the theme was red. When we got there a little late the hall was packed with buzzed up kids all dressed in red. Twas like a swarm of ladybirds (bugs). Made me grin :)

I didn't have time to write this yesterday, so I am doing so today. (by the title you can tell I want a LJ the true reason is so I don't look like such a loser when I respond to these wednesday things =D I read your stuff all the time it makes me happy... sorry tangent...

okay what made me smile this week was on sunday while I was watching the super bowl (which did not make me smile because i am a pats fan born and bred, before they won any superbowls.. tangent again sorry) anyway on sunday, we were at my neighbors, and they just had a new baby, and she is two months old, her name is molly, so her dad handed her to me at some point, and she started crying but within like 3 minutes, i had her asleep in my arms, and she just lay on me for like the entire first half, (i only gave her up when I realized i was starving) it was the sweetest thing EVER!! made me want a baby, but seeing as I'm 17 I think i will wait a while before i try any of that nonsense =D

Oh and i know its late but today i heard this song on my way home from school that screamed B&B for me, like it would definitly be a way in the future type thing but since I am not a writer, and can do nothing with its beauty, and also because i don't know anyone who... lets say enjoys for modesties sake, Bones and the whole B&B relationship, as much as I do I had to share it somewhere, so here I am =D Its a super sweet song in and of itself, but anyways (i have ADHD do not blame me for my inability to focus, its a medical condition!!! **ps. having ADHD is true however, that was my attempt at being funny (gahhh i am uber tangenting))

okay where was I? OHHH YES the song! Its called Austin by Blake Shelton. Country song, SOOOOOOO GOOOD!


sorry that i cannot control myself and that I wrote so much... I am in a very weird hyper crazy can't focus mood because (here's one more thing that made me smile before I leave) for the first time in my life (that I know of) a boy is, lets just say, showing an interest in me (going to an all girls school this is quite the thrill!) I don'r know how i am going to deal with this, but it most definitly makes me smile...

Hmm, every day between first and second period of high school, my best guy friend sneaks up on me and playfully pulls my hair. That always seems to make me laugh, no matter what mood I'm in. :D
