I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the squeeing over Bones.  Same goes for other people, of course.   So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

Please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small.  Could be the excellent latte you had on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today.  I'm going to try to post this every Wednesday for myself, and if you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere.   Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this?  Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience.   Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday?  I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt.  :)

If you feel weird about doing this in public, please comment anonymously.  I'm setting this entry to screen anon comments; I won't unscreen any anon comments unless you give me permission.  And please feel free to comment even if we're not "friends."

I'll be back with my response.

P.S.
I don't always get a chance to respond to all your smiles, but I read every single one.  They all leave me feeling a little bit lighter than I did before.  So thank you!  I hope you're all having a good week, my friends, and if you're not, I hope it improves.

I saw at my three years old nephew this weekend and he hugged me and he said me "I love you, aunt".
He is very sweet… when he wants.

And, finally, I have finished reading this (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3888131/1/White_Flag) fic. I liked it very much. Perhaps it’s a little fluffy but I’m very fluffy ;D

Besos

Two smiles so far. I should have a new Buffy/Angel story finished by this weekend and ready for beta.

The Village Voice best of 2007 music poll was just published. I'm always eager to check this out.

Well, I think anyone would smile if they opened up their check yesterday and found out they got a raise. I know I sure did!

It sounds ridiculous, but my bowl of cornflakes made me smile this morning. I don't usually eat breakfast - a habit I'm trying to break - and I'd forgotten how much I like cereal, cornflakes in particular.

Also, midway through, I realized I was actually grinning at my cereal, and that made me laugh out loud.

What made me smile this week was the fact that I spent all of last weekend in hockey nirvana, aka the NHL All-Star Game.

Oh yeah, and I came within a foot of David Boreanaz, too. YAY!

A beautiful photo of Heath Ledger and his daughter. Colours clashing wildly and hair everywhere. Made me not only smile, I laughed. It ehlped all round.

Since I started watching Dexter I've been craving blood oranges (there's a scene in the opening credits that shows his juicing blood oranges) and I finally got some today! It's lame but it made me happy...

A visited a friend yesterday on her birthday and when she opened the door to us, my two year old son held up her card and told her 'Happy Birthday' absolutely perfectly. That made me smile heaps (and her) x

My friends and I drove to Philly to see a show and we were following our friend's car in front of us, looking for parking, for a good ten minutes when...we realized that wasn't our friend's car.
There was nothing to do at that point except laugh.

Gossip Girl "Revealed." I totally began watching GG for Schwartz, then I fell in love with Ed Westwick and began obsessing about becoming Blair Waldorf. Anyway, since the strike has totally killed television, The CW is now going to air the episodes on Monday. To kick this all off, they had the cast 'host' the pilot. There were many, many, many shots of the cast "frolicking" together. Mostly spontaneously laughing at nothing.

It made me smile.

I held the first of bi-weekly meetings with my two teammates (I'm the dept coordinator) this morning, to help them with some work they'd got stuck on, and to offer help/mentorship in anything they wanted.
They were both really happy, and the idea seems to be working really well! It just made me smile to know that I could make a difference :)

Technically, it's Thursday, but my day was busy, and my catching up on LJ is better later than never.:-)

Thank YOU for giving me/us this opportunity to breathe a bit, and think about what we're thankful for. ::hugs::

I'm thankful my daughter stopped by today; she's on hiatus from work. I cooked a wonderful lunch - traditional American comfort food - and we had the opportunity to chat before I had to leave for work.

I'm thankful my classes went well, and my students appear alert.

I'm thankful everyone's well.

I'm thankful my husband told me he loves me.

Thank YOU, L. ::more hugs::

-I'm actually listening to a lot of music these days, this song really makes me smile, I love it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=v5o0dwRc0HE

-Watching 'Ghost World' a few days ago, it always makes me smile. Bittersweet now watching Brad Renfro, but great movie.

*hugs*

ermmm...a little late, but this happened Weds, so it still counts right? ^^

I was on campus the other day..walking along like nay other day, when I saw this guy walking towards me and I noticed he had the strangest thing sticking out of his pocket. I looked closer and it was the cutest leopard stuff animal! He had it crammed into his pockets (as if to hide it from everyone) and only it's snout and little head poked out. He looked embarrassed to have it, so I don't know if it's his, or he's carrying it for his gf. But, it made me smile. -teheheh- ^^
