Book recs, anyone?

Does anyone have some book recs for me?  No restrictions on genre, author, or POV -- except please don't rec Breaking Dawn.  (No offense to anyone who likes the Twilight series; I read the first book, and it just didn't do it for me.)

Help a fellow reader out, friends.  Pretty please?

More random thoughts on writing

My last post of random thoughts on writing spurred some interesting conversation and yes, some more random thoughts. *g*

I have strong opinions on reading and writing because I don't think I could live without either.  I don't apologize for my opinions, but it's worth noting that's all they are--my opinions.  They're worth no more or less than anyone else's.

Random thoughts about writing and reading

If you've recently read an enjoyable novel, would you mind commenting with the title?  I need something to read.  I don't read horror, but every other genre is fair game.  The only other restriction is that the novel not be written in first person point of view.  There's nothing wrong with first person POV; I just don't want to read it right now.

And yes, I know tastes differ.  I won't blame you if I don't like the book. :)
