After a day spent mediating asinine disputes between Hodgins and Zack about who was monarch of the lab, Brennan fantasized about the warm comfort of her bed.  But when she stepped into her apartment, the sound of masculine humming greeted her.  Her shoulders slumped as she realized Booth had let himself in.

Though tempted to tiptoe into her bedroom, she recognized the futility of that idea.  Ever the pragmatist, she paused for only a moment before striding into her kitchen.  The weariness in her muscles lifted an iota as she observed the pot chattering happily on the stove.  She inhaled; the air was redolent with garlic and tomato.  Booth pivoted to face her.

"Bones...  Ready for my six hour sauce?"  She quirked an eyebrow, and he added, "Ok, I only had time for Ragu."

"Thank you, Booth, but I'm inclined to go straight to bed."

"What?  No foreplay?"  He winked.  "At least dance with me first."

"There's no music."

"But they're playing our song," he said, sliding his arms around her waist and swaying them gently to a tune only he heard.   "Hear it now?" he murmured.

With a sigh, she nodded, letting herself fall headfirst into that crooked grin.

Author's Note:  I dedicate this to "Anslie."  Thank you for making me smile with your in-depth literary criticism.

Oh-my-god!!! He is so, so, so cute!!! I love this Booth ♥ ♥ ♥
I want a boyfriend like he ;)

And if "Anslie" doesn’t like this is because she or he or whoever is really silly.

Besos

*sigh* You deserve a boyfriend like Booth. Better than Booth, even. :)

*hugs* And thank you.

[identity profile] freevortex.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Better than Booth? Is that possible?

[identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, how sweet. And Hodgins and Zak could drive anyone to comtemplate murder.

(A Lupe Fiasco fan! You are coolness, indeed)

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL Hodgins and Zack together would try the patience of a saint. Booth would shoot them both. *g*

(A Lupe Fiasco fan! You are coolness, indeed)

My younger brother introduced me to his music, and now I'm a believer.

Have you ever heard the song "Sway" by the Perishers? (I'm such a VMars fan, as soon as I saw the title of this, I started humming the song.)

I like the falling-into-one-another imagery. It's such a telling phrase/idea.

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't heard The Perishers' song; I snagged this title from Bic Runga's song of the same name. I'll have to look up The Perisher's song; new music is always good. :)

Thank you; I'm glad you liked that particular image.

Oh, I love the sensual treats here: I can see her returning home tired, can smell the sauce cooking on the stove, can hear the music of the song that's not playing, can see her melt into him, can see them sway. Yesssss!

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
*pets you* You are good for my soul, Makd. :) Thank you.

Booth and his sense of humour could cheer up even the most exhausted Brennan.

"What? No foreplay?" He winked. --> :: points at her icon :: ;)

I love them the way you write them. Like a friend of mine says when she sees a fluffy scene of them: 'Oh, they love each other sooo much...', something like that in Spanish.

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Your icon = love.

They do love each other sooo much. Someday they'll admit it. :) And if they don't, I'll make them do so in fic.

Thanks for reading!

[identity profile] buffyangellvr23.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
lolol

I love seeing fic from you every day :D

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, thanks. But if they start to get on your nerves at some point, just do yourself a favor and don't read them.

[identity profile] mistletoe54.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You are too kind to Anslie. I read it anyway even if it is *just* a double drabble. Besides, I wanted to use this icon.

Now I want spaghetti sauce. Or Booth, whichever can arrive quicker.

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
*snickers* Actually, I had a much more elaborate note for Anslie in this chapter at FF.net. No profanity, though. The rant and the A/N felt good and cleansing, and now I have regained my sense of perspective and am ready to march onward knowing well that the world is full of annoying people--and I happen to be one of them.

Now I want spaghetti sauce. Or Booth, whichever can arrive quicker.

If only you'd said, "Or Booth, whichever can come quicker." The twelve-year-old boy in my brain would have had a field day with that. *g*

Your icon is perfect. ;)

[identity profile] mistletoe54.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
See I thought of that and then thought nah she'll leap on it, which you did, so I claim maturity, or resisting the inner 12 year old in my brain better. Hah!

[identity profile] mistletoe54.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I nearly used this one but thought Zack deserved parity.

[identity profile] nonores.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"monarch of the lab" - I loved that line!
And pretty well every other one, too.

Very sweet.

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, Res. Brennan's a riot. :)

[identity profile] mdemvizi.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
So reminds me of the scene from my icon.

Cute little fic. Booth is so cute in this one. Yay for happy!Booth.

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL Yes, Happy!Booth is a good thing. :) Your icon is perfect for this. Adorable.

Thank you for reading and commenting, Emily.

Now I'm hearing Bic Runga's "Sway" in my head, whether you intended me to or not.

And don't waste a dedication of something this lovely to that twatwaffle, mmkay? (Told you I'd be using it frequently!) Your words are lovely, no matter how many of them you string together at once. Art is art.

*smooches*

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I did intend it! I knew I loved you. :) I remember you were the first person to catch the Sarah reference in Better Than Ice Cream, too. That's how we "met," if I remember correctly.

You are like balm for my soul. Thank you. But it's ok; I've regained my sense of perspective. It was just good to blow off a little steam. You and I both know this is hardly a life and death matter.

Hug your sweet daughter, and be as kind to yourself as you would be to someone else in the same situation. *smooches you back*

[identity profile] greyskygirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe you're my musical soulmate. ;)

Blowing off steam is always allowed - it's how we keep from imploding. And I was glad for an opportunity to get indignant on your behalf; it was a much-needed distraction.

I've hardly let her out of my arms the last few days, so that's an easy enough request to comply with. And I'll work on lessening the guilt trip.

[identity profile] odakota-rose.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
That's.. adorable. Scenes like this kind of remind me of my parents actually. I keep catching them dancing in the kitchen when they're supposed to be cooking dinner *grin*

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, Ren.

I keep catching them dancing in the kitchen when they're supposed to be cooking dinner *grin*

That sounds beyond cute. :D

[identity profile] odakota-rose.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe, it really is. One of these days I'll have to take a couple pictures of them.

I'd want to come home to this Booth. :D

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
God, who wouldn't? *g* Yum.

Thanks for reading!

[identity profile] sarabones.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwwww :D
I so want them dancing together!

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
*sigh* Me too. :)

Thanks, Sara, as always.

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Thank you, Asra.

I loved that .It is funny and cute . I started laughing at monarch of the lab and ended with a silly grin on my face ;)

Anslie has a problem . I think it is called " advanced stupiditis " . All the symptoms are there ;)
love all your drabbles even if I don't comment on all of them . Oops I shouldn't have said that you might not have noticed ;) I guess stupiditis is highly contagious LOL . Will take some medicine and pray for recovery ;)

Thank you Lerdo ;)

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
So glad this made you laugh and smile. Writing it left me with a warm feeling. :) Thank you so very much for your kind comments.

[identity profile] xx-nepenthe.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
great job as always. actually, i've read this chapter over at ff.n, along with the other installments of 'all that lies between us'. i like them in general; the title (and the song it came from) really suits the chapters.

and for the record: ALL of your stories kick serious ass well...the parody..it kinda freaked me out. just a little. . your stories cover a broad range of style (genres..?)--from the lightest of fluff to the most serious kosovo/gravedigger stuff. so i don't know what 'anslie' was thinking *cosmokingugh* when she flamed you. just saying. and what do you know? maybe you can turn this whole dealie into a little drabble (if you think it's worth it)

now for a comment about this particular drabble: 'sway' by michael buble? just guessing. i love that song.

wh0a. that was kinda loong. you get cute booth for great stories.

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Cute Booth? I'm honored. :) Thank you.

Pictures of You is a lovely, lovely song. As for Anslie, I hope she is now happily reading something else. There's no shortage of writing for every different taste in the world, thankfully. But thank you so much for what you said. It's more fun to write different kinds of stories than it is to stick to just one; that's why I like fluff and angst and everything else on the spectrum.

now for a comment about this particular drabble: 'sway' by michael buble? just guessing. i love that song.

While Michael Buble's song is great, too, for this one I was thinking of Bic Runga's Sway. Good guess, though. :)

Thanks again for your comments; I loved reading them!

[identity profile] elena1701.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Coming home to find Booth cooking dinner - who would want that :)

This made me think of "Sway" by Dean Martin (none of the other comments have mentioned this song so far!). So I have been wandering round the house singing "I can hear the sound of violins, long before it begins" for the past couple of days.

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Coming home to find Booth cooking dinner - who would want that :)

No one, of course. ;)

I don't think I've heard Dean Martin's Sway. I must find it!

Thank you, Elena.

An unbelievably adorable fic! *grin* The imagery is beyond cute; I love the idea of Booth making dinner and then dancing with Brennan in the kitchen. Great job! :D

[identity profile] lerdo.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you very much. I'm happy you liked picturing this scene. :)
