I just realized...

...that I've had a post with Buffy the Vampire Slayer spelled as Bufty the Vampire Slayer up for four days.  o_O

Oh, Bufty.

That doesn't have quite the same ring.  :P

I can't believe someone didn't notice either.

well, i can't be the only person who doesn't wear my reading glasses all the time while i'm online. and actually, i had to squint to figure out what the spelling error was even once you'd pointed it out.

now Boffy, that would have been amazing.

Oh, Bufty, I hardly knew ya!

I actually noticed it, but didn't bother to leave a response... does that make me a bad friend? or maybe just a good (but shy) beta? ;)

I remember reading an article once about how the brain 'fills in' words that you're reading, even if they are spelled incorrectly. So if you are looking at a phrase that you recognise, you might not notice the mistake - in this case we would all have recognised the 'the Vampire Slayer' part and automatically read the first word as Buffy.

At least, that's my excuse for not spotting it :)

I once typed "Buffy" as "Buggy". [is embarrassed.]

Very nice. *g*

It's okay, I probably wouldn't have noticed at all. At least you spotted it.

Haha wow :)

Somehow I'm not surprised we ALL missed that ;)

(I've discovered sometimes I completely miss misspellings b/c my brain just fills in the right letters...weird)

What would Spike have been called?
You could start a whole new 'renaming;' trend! A good game.

"Oh Bufty" ... that made me laugh right out loud.

:o You've fallen victim to the theory that we perceive whole words, not the letters. Popular example:

"i cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid; aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae.

The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it whotuit a pboerlm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Azanmig huh? yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt!"

*sighs* Which still doesn't explain my prior "waist" issue. LOL

*double sigh* I just tried to spellcheck this mess. *head to desk*

I forgot to comment here yesterday. ;) It could be worse, you could have spelled it as 'the vampire layer'. Oh, wait, she was indeed. ;) It was a joke in the 6th season of FRIENDS, that I loved. Here.

Once, a friend of mine misspelled Superman as Sperman, and we made up a whole story of a super hero impregnating ladies all around the world. LOL
